Mechanical license pricing
Limelight is a simple online clearance utility allowing artists and labels to clear cover songs and third-party compositions for Physical Product, Interactive Streaming, Digital Downloads, and Ringtones.
- Service Fee Outline
- Each license via Limelight carries a service fee, in addition to the royalties that are due to the publisher and songwriter.
- Limelight Total = Publisher Royalties + Limelight Service Fees

Publisher Royalties = (# of Units x Royalty Rate)
Limelight Service Fees = $15 per license (maximum)

- Royalty Rates

Royalty rates are calculated by format. Digital downloads and physical product share the same rates (which are calculated by song duration), while ringtones are applied at a flat rate irrespective of song length. These rates are set by the Copyright Royalty Board and RightsFlow does not take an additional fee based on the publishing paid out. Further details are available via the Library of Congress.
Physical Product (CDs, vinyl, tapes) and Digital Downloads (i.e. MP3s):- For recordings under 5 minutes in length:$0.091 per song
- For recordings 5 minutes in length or longer:$0.0175 per minute, rounded up to the nearest minute per song
Ringtones: $0.24 per unit, regardless of song duration
Interactive Streaming: $0.01 per stream, regardless of song duration
